Communications
The social impact of the use of IT has changed a lot over the years. Social networking sites or social media has made it possible to share interests and connect people across the globe For example smart phone does everything these days, you can send emails or even check them in a spilt second using you phone. Email stands for electronic mail. Using the smart phone you go on facebook, tweeter and even go on webcam on Skype.
Social Networking
Social networking has improved over the years a lot because they have far faster chats and uploading times and it is handy to log on and send a message. Social networking is good and bad because it is hard to get off the computer and people would rather to just send an email than go and meet the person face to face.
These are a few facts I got of the internet. 39% of Americans spend more time socializing online compared to face-to-face, more than in the U.K which is (36%) and Germany (35%). Aside from feelings of loneliness, the survey revealed that people could embellish the truth when sharing online. 25% of American respondents admit they lied about who they've met or what they've done on their social networks, with a staggering 39% having shared bad news, such as a death or divorce. Bullying (cyber bulling) is a very big problem to because is hard against the feelings because there could be something bad on facebook about you and every one can see it. The person writing will not realize how bad it is affecting the person until the person tells someone or if he is afraid to he could harm himself.
Shopping
Shopping over the internet now has changed a lot over the years for example you have an account with marks and spencer’s and you want to get the same shopping list as last time it save it on your account so it is quick an easy. It is very good for the elderly and the sick because you only have to go to the computer and it takes about 15 minutes or so and the shopping is delivered to the door but it would be bad on your social life because when people do it once they will always do it over the internet and will not have a good social life because they are not getting out of the house. It affects the shops on the high street because they are closing down because people can get products of the internet for a lot cheaper.
Banking
Online banking has actually changed the way consumers select and use various financial services. They no longer have to visit their bank for banking services. They can do anything they want from the comfort of their homes using their computer. This is an easy and reliable when compared to visiting your bank and standing in a queue. They can do things like, check their account balance and transfer funds to other accounts.
Manufacturing
Manufacturing is the use of machines, tools and labor to produce goods for use or sale. Manufacturing is very important and good on the use of IT because now a day everything is designed on the computer and the made by a big machine connected to the computer.
Good points of Social Impacts of the use of IT
· You can talk to your fiends on the internet.
· You can do your shopping on the internet without getting of the couch.
· You can sort out your bills on online banking.
· Now days with smart phones you can go onto the internet anywhere.
Bad points of Social Impacts of the use of IT
· You would rater talk to your friends on the computer than face to face.
· You won’t get out and get socializing as much.
· You’ll spend a lot of you hours looking at a computer screen.
